What is the best type of roofing underlayment
Before a roof is installed on a home, an underlayment material is installed to help increase the water protection.
Not all underlayment are the same though and there is one underlayment option that we believe is the best.
A typical underlayment material that is used on roofs is a felt underlayment. A felt underlayment is one of the most budget friendly options but it doesn’t always perform the best.
Felt underlayment is water-resistant but not entirely waterproof and because of this can end up absorbing water faster than other roofing underlayment options meaning it can fail quickly and damage your roof deck.
This is why we use Sharkskin, a synthetic engineered product that has superior water protection.
Sharkskin is made to withstand being exposes for 6 to 12 months without shingles and metal. When it installed all over a roof, you get the best protection possible.
